Ventilation Systems

Ventilation systems are mainly used for two purposes:

1. Provide fresh air required for residents in a building by ASHRAE 90.1

2. Satisfy heating or cooling demands of the spaces

Every building requires some fresh air mandated by ASHRAE 90.1 and this is done in different ways using:

Make up air unit [Used for multi-family & high-rise buildings]
Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) [used for single family houses]
Fan Coil Units: [used in a group for multi-zone spaces]
Air Handling Units (AHU) [mainly used as central ventilation in commercial and office buildings]
Exhaust Fans [used in Kitchen or bathroom spaces]

The air handling units could also add humidity to air to provide more efficient comfort.
